Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Tennessee Williams

An anxious evening and night are passed in Big Daddy’s affluent household, which become a moment of truth for both the young generation of the family and the old. The lives of one part are drifting towards a dead end due to alcohol, unsatisfied passions and jealousy, for the others due to illness and feelings left unadmitted even to themselves. The price of coming together is high but necessary.

“Cat on a hot tin roof” is one of the most well-known plays of the American writer Tennessee Williams, which is familiar also to Estonian viewers – Kaarin Raid directed it in Ugala in 1991. In 1958 Elizabeth Taylor played one of her great performances now in film history as “Cat” Maggie in the American film by the same name.
