The Estonian Drama Theater is proud to announce its annual theater-themed research paper competition for high school students.

Theatre leaves its mark on society and culture. We are eager to see what traces of theatre young enthusiasts have uncovered through their research, and we aim to highlight exceptional discoveries and recognize those who delve deeper into the subject matter.

The competition’s jury comprises representatives from the University of Tartu Theatre Studies Chair and the Drama Theatre. The submissions will be evaluated based on the topic’s justification, the fulfillment of research goals and tasks, analytical skills, and proper formatting.

The winners of the competition will be announced during the final event in September, and the best theatre researchers and their supervisors will receive awards and recognition for their outstanding contributions.

We look forward to reading the insightful research papers from the next generation of theatre enthusiasts!

There have been 5 competitions so far. Throughout the years, students have conducted research on a wide range of theater-related topics, including the visiting habits of their peers, the comparison of original work and dramatisation, acting techniques, directorial approaches to text, musical theatre, puppet theatre, and various theater professions etc etc.
