An elderly Israeli couple and their daughter’s family are planning a trip to celebrate the Jewish New Year. Bertod already wants to leave, but Agnes is delaying. She can’t remember why they’re even leaving the house, where she has put the chopped liver for the traditional holiday dish, and why her sister, who passed away three years ago, isn’t coming with them. When Agnes suddenly doesn’t even recognise her husband anymore, New Year’s Eve becomes a flurry of absurd events and serious confessions. A sad, but comical story about fading memory and enduring love.
The play has been performed at Israel’s National Habima Theatre (premiere on November 10, 2018). At the Drama Theatre, Bertod and Agnes will be staged for the first time outside of Israel.
